About URS Christchurch
The largest city in the South Island, with a population of around 350,000, Christchurch is often referred to as the most attractive city in New Zealand. Known as “The Garden City”, it offers extensive inner city public and private gardens and parks. The shallow Avon River meanders though the city centre and a pedestrian oriented downtown is centred on Cathedral Square.
URS Christchurch is the next largest office to Auckland and due to the South Island producing the majority of New Zealand’s power sources, we have a large number of energy and mining staff that service some of the largest energy companies in the country. Our New Zealand Business Development Manager is also located here, making our business operate on a truly national basis.
Daily morning teas are commonplace in the office and we also have an active social club. Some of our regular events include client cricket games, bowling afternoons, bike wise and fun runs. Due to the relatively flat terrain, we have a large number of staff who choose to travel to work by bike. Christchurch has a mild climate, allowing residents to be able to visit the beautiful beaches over the summer as well as enjoying the great ski fields in the winter.
