About URS Tauranga

Tauranga, located in the Bay of Plenty on the East Coast of New Zealand’s North Island is considered one of the most desirable places to live in this beautiful country. Enjoying a spectacular coastline with pristine beaches and loads of sunshine, major growth is being experienced and it is currently one of the fastest growing cities in New Zealand.

The URS office in Tauranga is our smallest but one of the fastest growing. We are constantly breaking new ground in the Tauranga marketplace, traditionally held by more longstanding engineering consultancies. Our efforts are resulting in larger and more complex project wins. We also provide support and expertise to Auckland based projects.

Approximately a 3 hour car trip from Auckland, Tauranga sits at the head of a large harbour and is home to the busy Port of Tauranga. The name Tauranga comes from Maori, roughly translating to "a sheltered anchorage".

Tauranga enjoys a warm, dry climate due to its sheltered position. As such it is a popular holiday spot, particularly during the summer months. The picturesque countryside surrounding Tauranga is largely used for horticulture and growing a wide range of fresh produce for both domestic and export markets.
